Training and Development

We encourage and support everyone's continuing professional development. We want people who are committed to their careers, because they're the ones who are committed to our business. We have won awards for our commitment to training such as the Northern Land Councils Employer Excellence Award recognising our commitment to training and in particular our indigenous people training.

We also take an active role in attracting and developing youth through apprenticeships, cadetships, traineeships, scholarships and graduate programs.

Our structured apprenticeship program consists of both theory and practical experience.

A specialised Registered Training Organisation is responsible for delivering the theory component of the program. Austrak offers a diverse range of apprenticeship trades across a number of locations throughout Australia.

Apprenticeships are fully funded by the company and can take up to four years to complete.

Cadetships provide the ideal opportunity to preview particular career paths, experience Austrak’s various disciplines and gain an understanding of how they interface.

Many of our leading professionals started out in our business as a cadet.

Rotating through various disciplines also gives the cadet an opportunity to work with a broad range of talented professionals, while continuing their university studies with our full support.

Traineeships are nationally recognised and accredited training is delivered over one to two years.

Traineeships offer practical on-the-job tuition and, upon completion, successful candidates are awarded a Certificate or Diploma in their chosen field.

Austrak supports Traineeships undertaken within a diverse range of vocations. All training is delivered onsite or online.

We have established a number of undergraduate scholarships with universities around Australia.

Our Human Capital team has developed a specific program to provide ongoing training and assistance to team members. Named the Ascenders Program, its aim is to provide career opportunities for talented graduates who are positive, team-focused and performance-driven.

It is a two-year development program designed for graduates who’ve specialised in:

  • construction management
  • civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering
  • quantity surveying
  • business/finance
  • a relevant discipline

The program features four rotational placements within the business, an assigned mentor and a learning and development program.
