Production Coordinator – Port Hedland

Since its establishment in 1980, Austrak has grown to become a leader in the design and manufacture of concrete railway sleepers, bearers and associated plants to support major high profile railway projects.

With an ongoing commitment to efficient and effective production standards we now seek to appoint a pro-active Production Co-ordinator at our Port Hedland Factory, W.A.

Reporting direct to the Factory Manager this key position will be responsible for overseeing Austrak’s production output on-site and be an integral leader within our production team.

To be considered for this uniquely diverse and stimulating position you will ideally possess skills and experience in the following:

  • Recommend and implement operating plans, budgets and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Cooperate with sales, quality control and maintenance staff to ensure optimum production performance in accordance with sales forecasts.
  • Liaise with commercial staff in head office as to targets and expectation of production
  • Monitor production quality and safety standards on site.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.

This position will provide a challenging, stimulating and rewarding career opportunity and as such it requires a highly self-motivated, results-orientated professional who will relish the opportunity to work closely with our senior management team and clients to ensure on-going success and profitability of the projects undertaken.

Production Supervisor - Rockhampton

Since its establishment in 1980, Austrak has grown to become a leader in the design and manufacture of concrete railway sleepers, bearers and associated plants to support major high profile railway projects.

With an ongoing commitment to efficient and effective production standards we now seek to appoint a pro-active Production Supervisor on our Rockhampton, Qld.

Reporting direct to the Factory Manager this key position will be responsible for overseeing Austrak’s production output on-site and be an integral leader within our production team.

To be considered for this uniquely diverse and stimulating position you will ideally possess skills and experience in the following:

  • Recommend and implement operating plans, budgets and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Cooperate with sales, quality control and maintenance staff to ensure optimum production performance in accordance with sales forecasts.
  • Monitor production quality and safety standards on site.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Observe approved labour schedules and ensure efficient performance.
  • Coordinate maintenance programs in line with production schedules.
  • Supervise training of new staff and develop good labour relations.

Electricians / Fitters - Rockhampton

Since its establishment in 1980, Austrak has grown to become a leader in the design and manufacture of concrete railway sleepers, bearers and associated plants to support major high profile railway projects.


We currently have a need to appoint the following personnel to be based in our Rockhampton Factory.


Fitter / Machinist

Skills Knowledge:

  • Relevant Trade Qualification and Experience
  • Fork Lift License – Desirable
  • Electrical Disconnect / Reconnect qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Hydraulics, Pneumatics skills – desirable
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge

Industrial Electricians

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Relevant Electrical Trade qualification and experience
  • A good understanding of PLC

Candidates for the above positions should also have:

  • A sound understanding of manufacturing practices
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present logical reasons for decisions and be flexible in approach to problem solving and finding solutions
  • Work in a safe manner to ensure work place safety is maintained accordance with OH&S requirements
  • Willing to work shifts on a rostered basis, as our factory operates on 24/7 basis 3 shifts per day

Maintenance Supervisor - Geelong

With an ongoing commitment to efficient and effective production standards we now seek to appoint a pro-active Maintenance Supervisor at our Geelong Factory, Victoria.

Reporting direct to the Factory Manager this key position will be responsible for overseeing Austrak’s production output on-site and be an integral leader within our production team.

To be considered for this uniquely diverse and stimulating position you will ideally possess skills and experience in the following:

  • Control and coordinate the operation of the site maintenance system including issuing job instructions to trade-qualified members of the maintenance team, and speciality contractors.
  • Implement the site maintenance systems, as prescribed, including documentation.
  • Perform tasks, including repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Provide professional support services, including breakdown support to the production units, to help achieve site safety, plus production, quality and efficiency goals.
  • Maintain high purchasing standards.

Factory Support Manager – Head Office

Since its establishment in 1980, Austrak has grown to become a leader in the design and manufacture of concrete railway sleepers, bearers and associated plants to support major high profile railway projects.

One of our keys to success is our commitment to self-provide each of our manufacturing sites. In an effort to continue a line of innovative and efficient factories designs we now seek to appoint a pro-active Construction Manager based in our head office, Brisbane.

Reporting direct to the General Manager this key position will be responsible for overseeing the construction of Austrak’s factories and production lines and be an integral leader within our production team.

To be considered for this uniquely diverse and stimulating position you will ideally possess skills and experience in the following:

  • Develop and review construction planning and monitor progress of allocated projects to ensure they are on schedule, within quality and cost estimates and maximise the Company’s financial position.
  • Coordinate and control business unit staff and physical resources to achieve construction targets.
  • Review project costs and take corrective action if significant deviations from budget occur. Report regularly to management on budgets.
  • Oversee all Factory Design layouts and design templates as controlled by the Factory Design Manager.
  • Co-ordinate Business unit meetings as appropriate.
